Handle 88: the evolution of the Ultracut Comfort
The handle directly influences workstation safety, operator fatigue and gesture consistency — and, ultimately, the overall operating cost. Handle 88 was developed with this logic: a concrete gain in intensive use, without changing work habits.
Who is Handle 88 for?
For boning and cutting operators in the food processing industry (slaughterhouses, processing plants, cutting lines) as well as production, methods and QHSE managers who want to standardize equipment on repetitive-gesture workstations and reduce downtime related to fatigue or musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).
What changes compared to the Ultracut Comfort
Handle 88 is a direct evolution of the Ultracut Comfort. It retains the strengths expected in production (linear profile, dexterity, smooth repositioning in the hand) and incorporates the adjustments requested by the field to improve comfort and sustained use.
Reworked ergonomics
Optimized linear shape, better distribution of support in the palm, reduced pressure points.
Enhanced comfort
Softer contact feel, better absorption of repetitive strain.
Why this evolution?
Handle 88 results from field feedback analysis: operators, supervisors and end users. The objective is straightforward: maintain knife control over the duration of a shift by reducing accumulated fatigue.
On repetitive gestures, reducing pressure points and better distributing support in the palm directly impacts muscle fatigue, gesture precision and working comfort.
How was it developed?
Development relied on a structured approach: customer feedback analysis, in-house ergonomic study, industrial design, prototyping, real-condition testing, then successive adjustments before validation.
The bi-material design is retained: a rigid polypropylene core to transmit cutting force, and a flexible TPE coating for grip and strain absorption. This combination filters what the hand should not absorb, without compromising dexterity.
Workstations and use cases
Handle 88 is designed for intensive daily use on repetitive-gesture workstations in wet or greasy environments. It is suited for boning, trimming and cutting knives in the Ultracut Comfort family.
It is compatible with all existing Caribou bi-material models.
In practice
- Colors: available in eight HACCP colors (workshop segmentation, cross-contamination prevention).
- Packaging: blades ≤ 17 cm: box of 20 knives; blades ≥ 18 cm: box of 10 knives.
- Manufacturing: France, Courpière.
- Distribution: direct sales to food processing professionals.
